Maintenance of jewelry
All our jewelery is gold-plated/925 sterling silver and either plated with 18k or 24k gold. All jewelry patinas over time, even jewelry made of genuine material. The jewelery therefore needs maintenance if the shelf life is to be extended. It is therefore recommended that you wear the jewelery with care and take good care of it.
Here are some tips on how to best care for them:
- Do not wear the jewelery in the shower, for sports etc
- When you are not wearing the jewelry, it is recommended that you store the jewelry in a cloth bag or box, in this way you avoid oxidation of the jewelry. You can safely store your jewelry in the jewelry box that we send the jewelry in. Oxidation is a natural process that manifests itself in dark spots that appear on sterling silver jewelry over time. It is therefore not a complaint.
- Do not clean with the jewelery on, as contact with cleaning agents can damage the metal.
- Clean the jewelery regularly. You can use a soft cloth with a neutral detergent (no perfume or harsh agents) and lukewarm water. Note! Keep your pearl jewelery away from washing-up liquid and perfume as it will lose its shine.
- Perfume, make-up, hairspray, lotions and oils can damage the coating on the jewellery. It is therefore recommended that the jewelery is put on after the above beauty products have been applied.
The gold-plated jewelery will over time become more silver in appearance, this is because the jewelery is gold-plated with silver underneath and not pure gold. This happens through normal use and wear and tear - however, the durability can be extended by using the above advice.
